Come surf with us!
Are you a Portland Girl who loves adventure and the great outdoors?? Have you been wanting to learn surfing or get better at surfing, but you feel a little intimidated by the whole process (where to go? where to rent boards? how to stand up?, etc)
If you’re looking to make some new friends and enjoy a day learning to surf on the North Oregon Coast, then join us for our ladies surf camp! This is our third year hosting one and they just keep getting better and better! Many of our previous attendees have gone on to purcahse boards and go out and surf together as a group.
Our camp is small (no more than 10 admitted) and it will get you outdoors, enjoying all that the great Pacific Northwest has to offer.
Anna Long-Stokes (the founder of The Portland Girl) will be hosting this surf camp with her husband Shea Stokes. Anna is no expert at surfing, but she stated these camps as a fun way to connect with her clients (many of whom have mentioned in passing that they have always wanted to try surfing or get better at it).
Shea has been a surf instructor on the North Oregon Coast for 10 years and is a trained lifeguard to boot! He grew up surfing on the small island of Kauai and has been surfing since he was 14.
Shea has a knack for helping total beginners get comfortable in the ocean and have some fun. He is also great at helping non-beginners make small tweaks to their stance and paddle technique so that they continue to improve in the sport.
Depending on the number of sign-ups, we will have another very qualified instructor to assist.
Everyone will meet at Cleanline Surf Shop in Cannon Beach Oregon where you will get matched up with a wetsuit and a surfboard (unless you have your own equiptment). Depending on the wind and the waves, we will decide exactly which beach we will be surfing at for the day. If you already have all your gear, good for you! Please still meet us at the surf shop by 9:15 latest so that you can caravan to the surf spot with us. We often leave our cars at the shop and carpool with one another.
The price of the camp includes your lesson only. You will be in charge of packing your own food and water as well as board and wetsuit.
The price does not include wetsuit and board rental (which costs around $40) or instructor tip (which is optional).
How many people?
We do small groups with 1 to 2 instructors for every 5-10 attendee’s. So you will get plenty of time in the water getting one on one attention from your instructors!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
You must be 18 to attend this event and be able to sign a health and liability waiver.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
You can drive to Seaside in about 90 minutes from Portland, so you can leave that morning (early) or you can find accommodations on the coast the day before and make a weekend out of it! If you are interested in carpooling let us know and we can help match with a driver that day.
What can I bring into the event?
BACKPACK We may need to hike into one of the surf spots, so it’s best to bring a backpack to put all of this in. Keep in mind that a BACKPACK is much preferred to a shoulder bag.
What’s the refund policy?
If you cancel within 90 days of the event, you will receive a full refund.
If you cancel within 60 days of the event, you will get a 50% refund
No refunds given for those with less than 2 months notice. However you can give your space to a friend or family member. You can also move up to a surf camp that is earlier (if there is availability).
